Lately

I've been home for a week and really enjoyed it; made some cassettes but not enough to start selling any, just fill orders. It was wonderful to see my sisters and brothers again and my dear friends, parents, uncles and cousins. I guess it took me a while to get my head back straight.

I was glad to be able to take both boys with me because it was during the spring break. Judas had a jolly time with his double cousin and best friend Elliot; he also made a new friend that I'm all tickled about. Victor and Glenda's Dale, it looks like that family is a keeper. Some of my dearest friends are in it. :)

I have been collecting some fun quotes from little Hans.

"Self-control is to drive an airplane." That little brain goes from the fruits of the spirit to remote control.

"I want to go outside for some "new fresh." That means fresh air. He's got a pretty good handle on the English language and is much farther ahead than Judas was at this age. I guess he is exposed to it a little more.

Guess what "Lampootion" is??? It's lotion, still love making him smell like a baby, but I realize lately that I can just barely hold him anymore. He's growing so big.

I have such a struggle with my sons with guns. No matter how many good words I give them there is not a toy they cannot make to perform like a gun. "Guns are for killing, boys." "God made all these things, and you want to kill them, what if we destroyed the things you make?" Might as well talk to the wall.

I'm also not sure that I should be teaching my sons to turn the other cheek, of course it is the way of Jesus and I should be against violence, but what if they come in contact with one who is careless about how he treats others. Should they not even be defending themselves?? OK, wise old mothers speak up. LETS HERE FROM YOU! I guess we need not try to find a way out of obeying God's word because we think that our situation is unique, but I would like to know what and how mothers teach.

One thing that kind of bugs me is that some of our folks don't even know how rude and impolite whispering in public is or other manners like it. In community especially it sticks out because it makes the other person feel excluded and is hurtful. I wish our mothers would put more emphases on teaching their kids what we call "vilt manear."

o be completely honest with you. I won't want my children to just stand there without defending themselves. I wouldn't want them to start the fight but if someone comes and hits their bro or sis I want them to jump in on defense. Sorry if it might offend someone but that's how I feel about it. I'm not talking about bloody noses or broken bones but self confidence to stand up for yourself! That to me is important.
Also I hear you on the manners. I try my best to install that in my children at a young age. They are not perfect and they never will be but they can at least try their best to remember to say "Please" and "Thank you", "I'm sorry",etc
Nice that you had such a great time back home it's always nice to touch base with the folks back home.
